Richard M. DeVos Award
The Richard M. DeVos Award is presented annually to individuals who commit tireless dedication to their community through work with the AHA to create a heart healthy community. Who, through their giving and support, enhances the cardiovascular quality of life for many and has played a significant role in advancing the mission of the American Heart Association in West Michigan. The winners will be recognized at the Grand Rapids Heart & Stroke Gala on December 2, 2016.
Nomination Categories
Medical Professional/First Responder | This award is presented to an individual whose personal efforts in the cardiovascular field have saved lives, contributed to the quality of life or provided support to individuals or whose investigations and discoveries have advanced knowledge in the treatment and/or prevention of cardiovascular disease and stroke in accordance with AHA standards. Nominees might include physicians, researchers, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, rehabilitation therapists, EMT’s etc.
Heart or Stroke Hero | This award is presented to an individual with heart disease or stroke who successfully manages their condition in accordance with AHA standards and provides a positive inspiration for others affected by heart disease and stroke. This award could also be given to a corporate leader who uses their personal influence and dedication to advance awareness and education for a heart healthier West Michigan.
